About Me
My name is Emily Tau. I was born and raised in Elk Grove Village, IL, right outside of Chicago. I am a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, with my Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Theatre Arts.
At Marquette, I worked as a student employee and Resident Einstein in the Diederich College of Communication for all four years. I worked in the Wakerly Technology Training Center, helping students with software, such as Adobe, iLife, and MS Office products, and assisting faculty with technology problems that may arise.
I also worked as a Stage Manager on four mainstage theatre productions and three student-run productions for the Marquette University Department of Performing Arts. This required overseeing rehearsals and all technical aspects of the plays, as well as managing all actors' and crew's whereabouts. When showtime came along, I had my hands on every aspect of the performance, giving all light/sound/set cues and making sure everything ran smoothly. There's not a lot that compares to the feeling of watching everything you've worked hard on come together as a well-oiled machine.

After graduation, I spent my time working full-time as a server and bartender at AJ Bombers, a burger restaurant and bar in downtown Milwaukee. AJ Bombers has become a social media hub in Milwaukee, and through its effective use of social media, has been featured on CNN.com, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and other publications. It was also was on the Travel Channel's "Food Wars" where it won the title of "Milwaukee's Best Cheeseburger."
Throughout the years, I have returned to AJ Bombers and worked my way up to become the General Manager of this incredibly successful and busy downtown restaurant. The challenge of managing a large staff and making sure the restaurant is constantly running smoothly and efficiently is met with the joy of getting to chat with every guest who comes through the door and making sure everyone is having a fun and positive experience. Another fun aspect of my job is getting to manage the Twitter account (@AJBombers), which has over 24,000 followers, and extend our hospitality and guest experience outside the restaurant and into the digital world.
I have experience working in social media marketing through internships with the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre and Bar Louie, where I helped to create a social presence for the brands and organizations through the creation of Twitter and Facebook pages, as well creating social campaigns to increase interactions with viewers. I also worked for Caffeine Communications, originally hired as a Social Media Assistant, but quickly moved up and became an Account Manager with an emphasis in social campaigns.
Outside of the professional world, I'm just a midwestern girl who loves bluegrass music, red wine, cheering for the Chicago Blackhawks, spending my free time in old book stores, traveling, camping, and taking pictures of EVERYTHING.
